October 2008
My Dear Brother and Sister Cursillistas,
May the peace, joy, and happiness of our Lord Jesus Christ be with each of you as you live out your life as God has called you to do. His work with us here on earth is never-ending. Let us thank God for the gift of who we are today and make a gift to Him of who we become in the days ahead.
It has been almost twelve months since we had the emergency meeting of the Cursillo Community last October in Wellington. Many of you responded to that call for help to keep the Cursillo Movement alive here in the Diocese of Palm Beach. Thanks be to God for all of you! Recently however, there seems to have been a waning of support at the Ultreyas. Attendance at Ultreyas is a major indicator to the Secretariat of your support and involvement. I ask you for your participation and support once again as we try to keep the Cursillo Movement alive in our diocese.
To that end, we will have a similar meeting once again at the Ultreya at St. Rita in Wellington on November 8th at 7:30 PM. Your attendance at the meeting is greatly needed.
The Secretariat would like to hold Cursillo weekends in the spring of 2009. Before we can hold the weekends, we need an adequate number of qualified candidates and an adequate number of Cursillistas to serve on team. Regular attendance at Ultreya and participation in weekly Group Reunion are key to being a good sponsor and team member. A life lived is the best example for new Cursillistas. We have tentatively scheduled a men’s weekend in late March 2009 and a women’s weekend in late April. Without an adequate number of candidates and strong Ultreya attendance in the immediate future, team formation cannot begin and weekends cannot be held. We need a strong and vibrant Cursillo community to make the weekends happen and to support new Cursillistas after their weekend experiences.
Without you it will not happen. Remember that CHRIST IS COUNTING ON YOU.
God bless you in your Fourth Day,
Deacon Joe Pollock - Spiritual Moderator
The
Encyclicals of Pope Benedict XVI
At
our Day of Reflection, Fr. Chuck
spoke about the encyclical on
Hope. I have put both of Pope
Benedict XVI's encyclicals here

Our
Mission
The mission of the Cursillo Movement
of the Catholic Diocese of Palm
Beach, Florida is to participate
in the pastoral plan of our diocese
under the guidance and direction
of the Diocesan Bishop and the
appointed Spiritual Director through
the continued use of the Cursillo
Method for evangelizing environments.
All the leadership of the diocesan
movement (which includes the Secretariat,
School of Leaders, and area Ultreya
communities) shall provide to
other Cursillistas an example
of perseverance in the Fourth
Day in all phases and activities
of the Movement.
Relying
on the constant guidance and inspiration
of the Holy Spirit, and a continuing
practice of Palanca for all phases
of the Cursillo, the Diocesan
Cursillo Movement shall continue
to participate in the evangelization
mission of the Church through
the process of targeting environments,
identifying the leaders in those
environments. With them, we shall
attempt to develop Christian communities
and foster Christian growth which,
in turn, will continue to change
the world, and bring the world
closer to Christ, Our Redeemer. |
